THREATS, DISCRIMINATION, AND MANIPULATION; ALL TOGETHER NOW

Discrimination: Today the Supreme Court decided that it's all right for the military to recruit from college campus' even though most universities object to the Pentagon's discrimatory policy on gays. The Threat: If colleges don't subject to this new law, then they will lose federal funding.

Now recruiters will be able to solicit their views on colleges even though this may result in conflicts. But wait, this doesn't even compare to the manipulation that's already been occurring in our nation:

Recruiting is now allowed in public schools thanks to an amendment rider in the No Child Left Behind Act. They really meant it when they wouldn't leave any children behind. The above poster is something I found posted all over the walls of a local high school. The U.S. government is trying to manipulate adolescents (in lower economic areas) to think that war is good and justified and that the military is the only way out of their problems. They've even resorted to giving out free "prizes." Perhaps they should just start tagging them in elementary school.

Dick Hunter

Hunter-- one of my favorite tv shows from growing up in the 80's. Every week Sgt. Rick Hunter would hunt down the worst criminals of Los Angeles. He aimed at some of those criminals and disabled them on purpose. The difference now is the hunter is a criminal too and the aim is horrible.

It baffles me that the media is jumping all over the Dick Cheney incident as if they haven't had a news story in weeks (or good ratings). Dick can send soldiers off to war based on faulty intelligence and flat out lies. Dick can reward polluting industries with tax breaks and less environmental regulations. Dick can smear good people (undercover CIA agents) and veterans (John Kerry) for political power and spite. Dick can profit on the Iraq invasion. Dick can keep wiping his feet all over America, but the press won't be anywhere near it. But when Dick shoots a Republican lawyer in the woods, well, hey that's exciting.

NUMB-ERS

Today the Bush administration announced it will ask Congress for $120 billion more for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. If approved by Congress, the war money would push spending related to the wars toward a staggering half-trillion dollars. This is the most money our nation has spent on anything in history, all for a lie and the profit of oil executives. And what about the tens of millions of dollars that are unaccounted for in Iraq? What happened to that money? They might as well put the sign up now on American's front door reading "OUT OF BUSINESS."

A Real American

Cindy Sheehan, the mother of fallen soldier Casey Sheehan, was arrested and removed from the House gallery tonight just before President Bush’s State of the Union address. Sheehan was invited to attend the speech by Rep. Lynn Woolsey, D-Calif. and was charged with unlawful conduct. Sheehan was taken in handcuffs to police headquarters a few blocks away and her case was processed as Bush spoke.

The T-shirt bore the words “2,245 Dead — How Many More??”
